Adecco Technical is currently recruiting for a Structural Engineer (structural design engineer) to join the staff of one of our esteemed clients in Salt Lake City, UT. This position will be responsible for providing structural engineering design construction support for substation engineering projects. This position will provide technical support to internal engineering, operations and the project management office (PMO). This position will provide assistance in construction quality control for capitol projects and assist in developing engineering standards. . Must Have Experience/Skills: Bachelor's degree in Civil / Structural Engineering; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering related to structural design (including at least 2 years experience structural design of very high voltage/electrical substation design work). A minimum of one or more years must be in a lead engineer role. Three or more year s actual Design experience to include Utility/Power (very high voltage) systems with steel design for supporting electrical high voltage power (utility) systems equipment. Some experience with foundation design including spread footing, pile footings and pad footings. Some experience with civil grading plans and drainage studies. Working experience with Staad Pro 2007, AutoCAD 2007 and Microsoft office including word and excel. Familiar with use of codes IBC 2006, ASCE 7-05, ACI 318-05 and AISC Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty. Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations. Proficient with the use of personal computers including automated tools. Ability to travel and conduct field work as needed within six state territory. Must have a valid driver s license. ROLE/DUTIES: Provide technical oversight and guidance to the Company s internal engineering staff. Lead project teams in the development of critical engineering solutions. Assist with Company s projects in construction. Develop detailed design specifications and prepare bid packages for substation engineering services and similar to contracts to support needs of the business. Develop detail substation civil engineering related scope of work. Review and comment on substation civil engineering related work performed by internal engineering. Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to engineering standards and specifications. Ability to review and develop foundation plans. Support construction contractor and provide substation engineering related support and ensure that the quality expectation are properly met during construction. Act as a lead expert in the work group; train and mentor associate and career and/or associate level engineers, technicians and drafters. Review material specifications to ensure they adhere to company standards. Develop highly complex engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments. Determine methods and techniques for obtaining results. Recommend alternative engineering solutions to management to meet business needs. Maintain project timeliness and budgets.
