Position Title: Physical Therapy Assistant

Objective:

Provides physical therapy services to NCEP Day Treatment Program and Residential clients under the supervision of the Physical Therapist and in consultation with the other members of the Interdisciplinary Team.

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Provides direct and indirect treatment including functional mobility, range of motion, strengthening, transfers, balance, ambulation, wheelchair mobility and management, and coordination.

2. As part of the interdisciplinary team, contributes to and carries out a treatment plan based on the results of evaluation and according to the treatment plan and goals, as established by the licensed Physical Therapist.

3. Administers direct patient care through group and individual sessions within the clinic, residence and community, under the supervision of the licensed Physical Therapist.

4. Prepares, maintains and transmits accurate patient information to Physical Therapist and other Clinical Team members.

5. In conjunction with the Physical Therapist, supervises Rehab Tech staff assisting clients.

6. Instructs family and patient in any home programs that are appropriate in collaboration with the Physical Therapist.

7. Confers with therapists of other disciplines and appropriate personnel regarding progress of the patient and adaptations of the treatment program to fit the patient's needs under the direction of the Clinical Team.

8. Provides input on the patient's progress at various conferences.

9. Responsible for working in and developing an interdisciplinary team process.

10. Maintains professional license and standards of practice.

11. Assists with keeping current inventory of supplies and equipment. Orders and purchases supplies approved by the Clinical Director. Assists in development and administration of programs of physical therapy.

12. Performs other requested or assigned duties.

13. Participates in NCEP research efforts.

14. Performs general secretarial/clerical duties related to the position of NCEP Physical Therapist Assistant.

Qualifications:

Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy assistant program

Possession of a current, valid license as Physical Therapy Assistant

Possession of a current State of Nevada Board of Physical Therapy Assistant License or eligibility for such licensure through the State Licensure procedure.

Supporting Qualifications:

1. Prior experience working day treatment, rehabilitation and/or residential programs for individuals with traumatic brain injuries and neurological impairments.

2. Strong oral and written communications skills.

3. Dependability, initiative, strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently of constant supervision.

4. Ability to display directiveness in job skills.

5. Working knowledge of neuro rehabilitation.
