Profile: HELP of Southern Nevada

HELP of Southern Nevada

In our recent fiscal year, HELP of Southern Nevada provided assistance to over 60,000 individuals and families.  Some of the services provided were securing food, clothing, shelter, bus tokens, gasoline script, rental assistance and utility assistance.

Since 1970, HELP has fulfilled its mission, “to assist individuals and families to become self sufficient through direct services, training and referral.”

In actuality, HELP began in 1969 as the Voluntary Action Center through the efforts of the Junior League of Las Vegas and the Senior Citizens Resource Center at UNLV.  The agency was incorporated in 1970, and in 1972 the first edition of the Community Services Directory was published in conjunction with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Junior League.

As the community has continued its rapid growth, so has HELP of Southern Nevada.  Today the agency offers a variety of programs and services to help individuals and families increase their self-sufficiency and become less dependent on government assistance.

Your help and support of these programs and services will help ensure that our mission is carried forth and that we can help people help themselves.
